We will be shutting down the site on Monday, July 12, 2010.

Unless someone decides to take the site over, this will be the end of it. Terminal health issues are forcing me to move from the area and live with my daughter and family in South Carolina. I have stomach cancer and I’m not getting any better. The only thing I dread is the fact of knowing I won’t get to see my grand daughter grow up. Other than that, I’m good to go. As I’ve said before, we’re not going to get out of this world alive, so it’s just part of the process, and I am fine with it.

I would like to thank all those people who have helped our site grow, and have befriended me. I couldn’t ask for better friends anywhere. The people here are a cut above, and I will cherish each of you, always. And to my enemies, I say, I will miss you as well. It’s no fun for everyone to be agreeable 100% of the time. I don’t hate anyone nor despise anyone. But there are some who will always be the opposite of what I think and believe, but that’s what makes this country so great. Agreeing to disagree in a peaceful manner is always a good thing.

I’ve had the pleasure to have been able to spend nearly 14 years in this great city. It has been a blessing to me to share the things here that are available to one and all. I wish nothing but success to the City of Shelby and Cleveland County, and to all the fine citizens who are a part of the success here. There are some special people here that I’ve been blessed to meet and get to know, and for that, I am extremely thankful. (and you all know who you are)

In closing, I would like to say, to the younger generation...dream big, plan big, and think big. You can go as far as your ideas can take you. To the older generation, know when to turn things over to the next group, because they will not let us down. They may stumble, but even if they fall, they will pick themselves up and get right back at it.

Thank you again for everything, Shelby. Keep up the good work. Always seek the truth and act accordingly. I appreciate y’all being my friend.

If you want to contact me after the site goes down, I can be reached at (substitute the AT and DOT) editorATwoodruffnews-opinionDOTcom

Sincerely,

Hal

A couple of months before my dad died, my brother and I happened to be visiting Dad at the same time. He sat us down, and told us together...promise me you’ll meet me at the river. And we made that promise.

I haven’t really thought about that too much, until the last few months. Now as it dawns on me that Dad and I will have a few days of fishing and talking by the river lined up not too long from now, I can actually enjoy the fact that dying is not or should not be filled with heartache and pain. It should be a celebration of the life that has gone on to a better place. Besides, only a few of the chosen generation will make it out of here alive.

Honestly, I look at the end of the road as being some special treatment. Not that I am special, not at all, but simply by the beliefs that I hold. I have been awarded an early retirement by Divine Intervention. I don’t have to worry about a retirement home or place to retire to and become miserable. No, there is a mansion already prepared for me, and I am being prepared for the mansion.

Yep, I believe that God will grant my Dad and me a few days of fishing and fellowship before the main plan gets going. And for that that, I am thankful. One thing for sure...I’m sure the fish caught at the river will be amazing, but anxiously await to see the size of the bait.

God bless everyone. Hope to see you at the river someday. Look me up. I’ll be the one with that new bright smile.

weasel word

[From the weasel's habit of sucking the contents out of an egg without breaking the shell.]

Allow me to explain. Go here to read the story.

Three days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, the Dutch government offered to help.

It was willing to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms, and it proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands.

The response from the Obama administration and BP, which are coordinating the cleanup: “The embassy got a nice letter from the administration that said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,'” said Geert Visser, consul general for the Netherlands in Houston.

While the President is running around looking for an ass to kick, (his own words) here’s a good start:

How about those nice terrorists from Palestine, whom you’re giving
$400 million.

And that crazy man from Iran, who says you are weak, but yet you’ve offered to speak with him unconditionally. How about a little ass kicking there, instead of kissing?

Let’s not forget those bullies in Israel that you and your Secretary of State seem to enjoy throwing under the bus. You want to kick their ass too?

Ever thought about kicking some UN ass, rather than kissing some UN ass? I didn’t think so. Sorry about the language here, Mr. President, but you started it. I’ll admit this. I”m not one who is concerned about your image...I’m concerned about your incompetence. I remember during your campaign, where you made the state that you were skinny, but you were tough. Well how about show us a sampling of it, and I’m not talking about sound bytes and just words. And speaking of words, the words you deliver are mere “weasel words”, and did you realize that the term actually came from a weasel’s habits? From the dictionary:

weasel word
n.
An equivocal word used to deprive a statement of its force or to evade a direct commitment.
[From the weasel's habit of sucking the contents out of an egg without breaking the shell.]

You know, kinda not like wanting to get any on yourself when the backlash comes. That defines a weasel perfectly. Check your nearest mirror. You may discover the biggest ass thus far is staring back at you, and it’s been kicking you since Day One! I mean, you have been in charge since Day One, right? And right on top of things. I reckon the first time you’re playing golf and some of that bubbling crude spews out of hole on the green, then you’ll get really mad, and want to seriously kick some ass.

We’re all waiting.

Not that my dad was anything like the TV fathers I grew up with, because, he wasn’t anything like that at all.

I can recall back when I was a young kid, my mom would tuck me in, and that’d be that. My dad would only come in when brute force was needed. A parent can’t do that today, because of all the wimpy PC laws. Now, kids get a time out, and have to stand in a corner, or go to their rooms. Yet, we continue to wonder why some kids are out of control. Well, duh!

That time out really gets their attention, doesn’t it? That is, until the next time out...and the next one..,and the next one, and next thing you know, you’re in juvenile court with the kid, and in trouble with the DSS for the discipline of said kid. Kids have rights, remember? I would have loved to have seen some of these jokers go to my dad and tell him he couldn’t adjust his kids attitudes. There would have been one more civil servant to have felt the wrath of dear old dad. One thing I can faithfully and honestly say. My dad had wisdom and integrity. The DSS...not so much.

I remember a few times, when my dad had discovered some things that I’d been into that I knew he did not approve if, he would merely mention the fact that he knew, and that in the near future, he would deal with me about it. I came to realize early on that he actually meant this:

He would give me time to drift off to sleep and forget about my transgressions, and then, out of the blue, he would barge into my bedroom, and saying either, “Boy (or son), you think I forgot about it, didn’t you?” And then, with the force of a MOAB, would jerk the covers off me with a force so strong, it would automatically slam the door shut it my room. Talk about a wake up call. Talk about the blues. However, I am still grateful today for his discipline, wisdom, and love. And I didn’t turn out too bad, either.

At least I came to realize that I was loved enough that my parents wanted only the best for me. Let me give you an example, and not of myself, but of my older brother, who this to deal with from our dad. I have to admit, I have the utmost respect for my brother, but this pretty much defined our respect for our father.

My brother, who shall remain nameless here, was in high school, maybe a Jr, or Sr. as I can’t recall. Anyway, he had laid out of school, and was unknowingly seen/caught by my mom, who happened to see him and his buddies as she was glancing out the kitchen window. Long story short... of course, our dad found out and the next morning, my dad wrote an “excuse” for my brother to the principal at the high school which simply stated:

________ intentionally laid out of school without my permission. Punish as you see fit.

And my dad signed his name to it and gave it to my brother. And my brother gave it to the principal. I can’t say that I would have done that, because I have no way of knowing. But I do know that my brother had enough faith in our father, that he knew he had to do the right thing. All in all, what I’m saying is, I wish the man was still here with us, (he passed away March 25, 2009) because we could all use some of his wisdom and understanding.

Now, who will discipline and get through to the next generation? Is anyone listening? Is anyone leading?

Thanks, pop. And thanks, brother.

Well, no, but there are some pimps running

Pimps? Sure, like Andre Bauer and maybe Gresham Barrett. They’ve pimped out their cousultants to sling accusations at Nikki Haley, so now that we have established what these guys are, it’s only a matter of haggling over the price. As in everything else political, just follow the money. Find out how much lover boy Larry Marchant’s bank account has grown since he claimed to have had a one night stand with Ms. Haley. In my opinion, if he was in a whore house with a room packed with money, he couldn’t get laid. But I’ll give you him one thing...he talks really sweet. I just don’t see him being a ladies man at all, Sorry, Larry. There just ain’t no there, there. Plus, he has hair that James Trafficant would die for.

And Will Folks. I can see ladies lining up just throwing themselves at this suave gentleman. He just oozes with personality, right? He’s macho, likes to keep his woman in line, is not afraid to get rough with them. How irresistibale is that? I find it strange that these jokers who are making the accusations, Bauer, Folks, Marchant...appear to be more effiminate than some women I know, yet, attack a woman. These fellows put the smooth in talk. Listen for yourself.

Here’s Marchant:

Ah, he speaks so sweetly, doesn’t he. And he keeps reassuring us that, it was one of those things, as he keeps lifting his eyes towards the ceiling. Hey, he was in the room, it just happened. She just couldn’t help herself because he’s so freaking hot, right? That head of hair alone would drive a woman to the edge. So, Mr. Marchant. I say you lie. Sue me. Let’s do discovery. You up for it?

Here’s Pretty Boy Bauer:

Notice the look he gets, and how he will not look anyone in the eye when he is responding, at the end of the video. Another Sweet Ole Boy!

These guys are making Lee Atwater look like a statesman. Jake Knotts comes out and calls Haley a “raghead”, and then comes back and tries to make it a light hearted joke. Jake makes the other Knotts (Don) appear to be very heroic. Don was an actor...Jake is a practitioner. Good thing is, he didn’t make the claim of hainvg a tryst with Ms. Haley. Of course, everyone knows that Knotts is a dicky-do. (look it up)

I’ve never seem so many “girlie-men” in politics as the South Carolina Republican Party seems to have. They seem to wet themselves if a strong, conservative female appears in their midst. Macho, they aren’t. Why do they appear to have such a fetish? I’ve seen the good ole boy system at play in the last two states I have lived in, and South Carolina being one of them, and North Carolina at the present. It’s a very difficult system to fight, but it can be a fight that can be successful, but that’s up to the voters.

As an example, we have a two term incumbent Sheriff here that lost in the primary election. He amassed a whopping 2% of the votes. Yes, things can change in a heartbeat. Not just here, but Anywhere, USA. The people have a voice. Regardless of how many crooked, corrupt politicians spew their lies and speak out, the people are not stupid. The fact of that will be revealed at the ballot box, come November. It’s not a one party thing at all. It will cross political aisles and it will separate the wheat from the chaffe. And the people will know the difference.

Lastly, I say to you several scumbags in South Carolina, I pray that you get what is deserving to each of you. Sure, Mark Sanford was/is very wrong regarding his affair with his soul mate. But these pimp daddys are no better than Sanford. They’re just playing a different game. And that’s all it is, a political game, but one that is very disgusting. Whores, the whole lot of them. Nikki Haley may be the only one left standing who is not one of them. And that would be sweet revenge.

Thanks to the self-ascribed narrative of Will Folks, he comes across as a modern day douche bagger.

As he continuously lavishes praise upon himself, as he writes about himself from the third person narrative, it’s fairly obvious this is one egotistical, very over-rated individual, who happens to employ a self mutual admiration society among his few friends. But my main question is this.

How could so many S.C. politicians be duped by this guy, who seems unable to tell the truth? I mean, he was Gov. Mark Sanford’s go-to-guy for a while, as well as employed by several different politicians in S.C. including Ms. Haley. However, in spite of all that has been reported and verified, I would say to Mr. Folks, these few words... put up, or shut up. Throw away your victim card, as you started this whole mess. Your own insatiable desire for attention, admitted on your own website pretty much shines on your motivation. You, sir, are an attention whore, and a male diva, and that’s being nice.

In my opinion, and I’m in no way advocating violence here, but knowing the good people of South Carolina, it seems to me that Mr. Folks could end up on the business end of a nice little “come to Jesus talk” behind a barn somewhere out in the country. Regardless of what anyone thinks, this whole story is a straight up 50-50...meaning it is, or it ain’t. Pure and simple. How do you disprove a negative, many people ask. You don’t. For instance, let’s try this. Hey Will Folks, are you still beating your wife or girlfriends? I can’t prove it, but that doesn’t mean anything, does it? So therefore, Folks should step up and prove he’s a good man that does not dole out physical abuse to his female companions, right? Should be easy enough to prove.

Oh, and did any of you reading this ever see the little “funny video” that Will Folks did about Ms. Haley? Well, here it is for your pleasure. Now tell me what you think.

What a putz. And this guy is supposed to be a mover and shaker in Republican circles? It’s no wonder why the party is in trouble. When you hire a bunch of wet behind the ears, young bucks, who think they are way ahead of conventional thinking, then you will end up with this mess. This isn't funny, it isn’t cute, and it isn’t professional. It’s like a high school prank gone wrong. Especially when someone like Folks pads his resume by hawking himself as the big player in S.C. politics. If that’s the best the Repubs can do, then God save the Republic.

As the video above will confirm that Will Folks is not a friend of Ms. Haley. As a matter of fact, it speaks pretty much to the fact that Folks has no friends at all, unless they are as nasty as Folks himself. In my opinion, I think he has a screw loose, but it’s incumbent upon him to prove that he doesn’t. How do you like that, Sic Willie?

All Will Folks has done is made claims and tossed out innuendoes that have not been fully verified. If it walks like a douche bag, talks like a douche bag, and acts like a douche bag...chances are, it is really a douche bag. Will Folks, in my opinion, you are a douche bag.

Bring it, or can it. If you have something, then show something. If not. Go away. Oh, and writing a book about the same old BS, yea, that should sell really well. Maybe you should do an autobiography instead, like, My Life as a Woman Beater, or My Life as a Douche Bagger, or something along those lines.

As I said earlier, this is just my own opinion. Your own mileage may vary.

Lindsay is 23 going on 15. How long can she make it?

When you’re 23 and dumb, you should not speak publicly...about anything,

According to NewsBlaze'':

"Troubled actress and aspiring style guru Lindsay Lohan wants Chanel to help customize an unwanted fashion accessory -- her alcohol monitoring bracelet.

The 23-year-old was ordered to wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) device on Monday after a judge ignored pleas from her lawyer to undergo more frequent testing instead.

"Can CHANEL please help me out by getting me some stickers to put on my SCRAM bracelet so that I can least wear a chic dress...Lohan tweeted."

We’ve figured this much out. The SCRAM should be changed to SHAM (State Hoarding Alcoholic’s Money). Whatever, Lindsay Loon is, she is not bright. Maybe she should buy some of those kiddie bandaids to mask the true alcohol monitoring bracelet. She’s not worried about character, as she has none. She’s more concerned about her appearance. Maybe she should check and see if her comrades can implant a permanent tattoo that would monitor her alcohol intake, and nobody would notice. I doubt there are but a few people who notice now.

A chic dress? Only if you were only a chic female, maybe. You're so vain, you probably think this story’s about you...don’t you? Don’t you?

Bought boobs and and botox plus a huge ego wrapped in a small mind can only take you so far. Lindsay, I think you have run out of real estate on this one. But you go, girl. Get after it like it will change your career. I mean, what else do you have to lose?

Sheriff Hamrick at it again.

According to the Shelby Star, Defeated Sheriff Raymond Hamrick is again in the news. He’s claiming that he needs to check the record of leave time of Alan Norman, the Democrat candidate for Sheriff, and if there’s not enough time left, then he must terminate him.

According to the Shelby Star, Defeated Sheriff Raymond Hamrick is again in the news. He’s claiming that he needs to check the record of leave time of Alan Norman, the Democrat candidate for Sheriff, and if there’s not enough time left, then he must terminate him.

This, coming form a Sheriff who was pretty much on leave since his last re-election. It’s been pretty clear, in my opinion, that Hamrick has decided to be a thorn in the side (actually a pain in the butt) to anyone that caused him to lose the primaries. He has no one to blame but himself. He’s been contrite, he’s been petty, and he’s been antagonizing, to say the least. As I said, that’s just my opinion.

At best, Sheriff Hamrick has shown himself to be quite the manipulator. His remarkable recovery happening to manifest itself on the final day of registration to run for the office, is, well, just amazing. After all these years, he finally is able to go to work. Well, hallelujah. Go, Raymond.

Raymond is definitely not qualified to be in one of those old “Texaco” commercials. Remember those? Something about “you can trust your car to the man who wears the star”...yea, right. I’ll tell you this...we’re giving Lincoln County a run for their money in regards to despicable administrations, especially the Sheriff’s office.

I know the powers that be will be out to tell us that they’ve been on it from day one, and we believe it, right? What a joke. November will be here soon enough, and I encourage you to make some very serious decisions this time. Vote smart, and vote you ideals. Party be damned. Vote for the candidate who most represents your views. Don’t vote for the lesser to two evils. You still get evil, regardless. And for sure, don’t stay home...at least vote for something.
