Real American Music? A-A-A-A
First off, I want to say that I usually don’t get to write anything but my advice columns here, but Scoop is under the weather here for a few days, as he works on his juggling therapy, so he asked me to keep things going, and gave me the keys to the kingdom for a bit.
This young 16 year old heart throb from Canada is creating a buzz all over. His teenage love tunes, without the puppy, seems a little much for this old gal to handle. What does a kid this young know about giving and taking and real love and such? Well cry me a river.
This kid has performed for royalty, including the President and his wife, preformed with Stevie Wonder, who is blind, I might add, even with Dick Clark Productions. That’s a pretty dignified list, if you consider the above as royalty. Personally, I would advise this youngster to wait until he works through puberty, because at the moment, his voice sounds like a mixture of an adolescent Michael Jackson and Daffy Duck...no offense to either characters there.
His website just oozes with pre pubescent emissions. How can a girl resist? What makes it all so sad is the fact that I have a 32 year old daughter who simply adores this kid. If this persists, I will have to get some professional help for her. And I’m not kidding.
What is it with older gals and these young singer guys? I remember here locally when NC native, Clay Aikens and this Idol thing. Females here went nuts over him, even though he was gay. Funny thing is, I didn’t hear much about how the guys felt about him.
I do know that Scoop played music for years, but from the people I have corresponded with, he was nothing like the youngsters starting out today. No siree. Back in those days, bands had to have talent...not gimmicks. Seems I heard that the first band Scoop was in, practiced for about a year before they left the basement for their first gig. And even he admitted he was probably their weakest link. Today, you find a niche and market towards that.
Oh well, just another day to grow older, realizing that the young ones are on the move, but without direction, there is no destination. Pretty simple stuff, huh?
