To the readers of Shelby Action News

Unless someone decides to take the site over, this will be the end of it. Terminal health issues are forcing me to move from the area and live with my daughter and family in South Carolina. I have stomach cancer and I’m not getting any better. The only thing I dread is the fact of knowing I won’t get to see my grand daughter grow up. Other than that, I’m good to go. As I’ve said before, we’re not going to get out of this world alive, so it’s just part of the process, and I am fine with it. I would like to thank all those people who have helped our site grow, and have befriended me. I couldn’t ask for better friends anywhere. The people here are a cut above, and I will cherish each of you, always. And to my enemies, I say, I will miss you as well. It’s no fun for everyone to be agreeable 100% of the time. I don’t hate anyone nor despise anyone. But there are some who will always be the opposite of what I think and believe, but that’s what makes this country so great. Agreeing to disagree in a peaceful manner is always a good thing. I’ve had the pleasure to have been able to spend nearly 14 years in this great city. It has been a blessing to me to share the things here that are available to one and all. I wish nothing but success to the City of Shelby and Cleveland County, and to all the fine citizens who are a part of the success here. There are some special people here that I’ve been blessed to meet and get to know, and for that, I am extremely thankful. (and you all know who you are) In closing, I would like to say, to the younger generation...dream big, plan big, and think big. You can go as far as your ideas can take you. To the older generation, know when to turn things over to the next group, because they will not let us down. They may stumble, but even if they fall, they will pick themselves up and get right back at it. Thank you again for everything, Shelby. Keep up the good work. Always seek the truth and act accordingly. I appreciate y’all being my friend. If you want to contact me after the site goes down, I can be reached at (substitute the AT and DOT) editorATwoodruffnews-opinionDOTcom Sincerely, Hal

Hal, it’s been a privilege knowing you & I’m so saddened to hear you’re leaving our beloved county. It’s long been a comfort knowing you were there ready to do battle with words on issues that are important to us. Take care my friend, hug that granddaughter and say hello to my Grandpa for me when you get to that river. You’ll know him I promise. Judy
